Mark’s Brisket
Equipment
- Large roasting pan
Ingredients
- 1 large brisket, 7-8 pounds
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, pressed or chopped finely
- 2 green peppers, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
- 1 bottle Heinz Chili Sauce
- 1 can beer, stale, or 12 ounces red wine
- 1 pound carrots, cut in slices
- 1 package Lipton's onion soup mix
- coarse kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 6 ounces chicken stock
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Place chopped onions in bottom of roasting pan.
- Rub brisket with garlic.
- Place brisket in roasting pan on top of onions.
- Place remaining ingredients in roasting pan.
- Place in oven and cook, covered, for 45 minutes at 350° F.
- After 45 minutes, reduce heat to 275° F.
- Continue to cook until tender, for up to 6 hours.
- Remove from oven, cool ½ hour, and then slice across the grain.
