Chocolate Chip Cookies

Equipment

  • Stand mixer with paddle attachment
  • 3 baking sheets

Ingredients

  • ½ pound unsalted cultured butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 cups King Arthur unbleached all-purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375° F.

Prepare dough

  • Place butter and sugars in mixer bowl and cream together.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating until well blended.
  • Add baking soda and salt and beat together briefly.
  • Add flour and beat together until ingredients combined.
  • Add vanilla extract and beat together briefly.
  • Add chips and beat together just to combine.

Bake

  • Place teaspoon-size mounds of dough on ungreased baking sheets. On each baking sheet, place three rows, five deep.
  • Bake for approx. 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
  • Transfer to rack to cook.
