Crackers
Equipment
- food processor fitted with metal blade
- 2 baking sheets
- Parchment paper
- Pastry cloth
- Rolling Pin
- Pastry docker
Ingredients
- 1 cup King Arthur unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ cup water, plus extra as needed
- toppings such as salt, sesame seeds, and chopped garlic
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Prepare dough
- To food processor fitted with metal blade, add flour, butter or oil, and salt.
- Pulse food processor until ingredeients are combined.
- Add ¼ water.
- Continue to run food processor until mixture holds together but is not sticky, adding water 1 teaspoon at a time as necessary.
- Knead dough briefly to form a ball.
- Cut ball into two equal pieces.
Prepare crackers
- Roll first piece of dough on pastry cloth until approx. 1/16" thick, and slightly smaller than the baking sheet dimensions.
- If you have a pastry docker, run the docker across the pastry multiple times, from various directions.
- Place dough on baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle toppings of choice on the dough.
- Roll rolling pin across toppings lightly several times, to press them lightly into dough.
- Using pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut or score dough into squares or rectangles.
- Repeat with second ball of dough.
Bake
- Bake until lightly browned, approx. 10 minutes.
- Let cool and then break apart into individual crackers.
